WELCOME TO DEPARTMENT OF BANKING AND FINANCE DEGREE OF BACHELOR OF SCIENCE

PHILOSOPHY
The departmental academic Programme is developed on the basic premises that an individual person living in a modern dynamic and monetized economy. This monetized economy possesses challenges and uncertainties in decision-making. Therefore, this programme I designed to inculcate in the student the ability to identify, analyze and offer solutions to complex financial problems that may arise from the technological changing and financial environment. This programme also aims at cultivating the basic work ethics required in production economy which will result in self-reliance, so unmoral discipline and individual actualization.

OBJECTVES
Education in banking and finance aims at developing the necessary financial tools that will enable the student occupy managerial positions in government and private sector establishment such as Commercial and Merchant Bank, Insurance Companies, Financial Investment Companies, Brokerage firms, Commerce Industry, as well as succeed in self employment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Candidates seeking for admission into Banking and Finance Department by Entrance Examination must in addition to the University's minimum requirements, have

    Passed the West African School Certificate/Senior Secondary School Certificate with Credit in, at least five subjects (including English Language, Mathematics and Economics);
    OR
    The General Certificate in Education (G.C.E) with passes at credit level in five subjects, (Including English language, Mathematics, and Economics). These credits/passes must be obtained in not more than two sittings.
    Direct Entry candidates must in addition to the above-mentioned requirements, have passed the approved Ordinary National Diploma or Higher National Diploma Examinations in Banking and Finance. Candidates should posses five credit level passes in the G.C.E, or equivalent examination, at least two of which shall be at Advanced Level Passes in Economics, Government and Accounting, provided that subjects are not counted at both level off examination. National Diploma obtained from accredited polytechnics/colleges or institutes with passes at the lower credit level can also be admitted by direct entry.
